Air permeability is an important property for the evaluation of the performance of apparel and technical textile fabrics, including nonwoven fabrics. A fabric's air permeability is a measurement of how well it enables air to move through it and is of importance for a number of end uses such as industrial filters, tents, sailcloths, parachutes, raincoat materials, sportswear, shirtings, downproof fabrics and airbags.
This webinar will look at a general overview of air permeability, the importance of testing, and how to test in a way that is repeatable and accurate. It will focus on two standards:
- EN ISO 9237 - Determination of the permeability of fabrics to air
- ASTM D737 - Standard Test Method for Air Permeability of Textile Fabrics
Course Outline:
- What is air permeability and why the test is important and useful.
- A general overview of the tests according to EN ISO 9237 and ASTM D737.
- Potential issues during testing.
- What other standards are also applicable to Air Permeability.
- Q & A
