Supply Chain Hazards Awareness 1: First steps in managing the safe transport of sensitive assets

Broken components. Visibly damaged packaging. Lost or rejected product. Insurance claims. Bad things can and will happen in the Supply Chain!

Shipping cargo by truck, rail, air, and boat exposes products to multiple environmental hazards. To properly protect products from those hazards with packaging, it’s critically important to develop a robust understanding of all those hazards and their potential damaging impacts.

In this webinar, we describe the relationship of the product, package and the distribution environment.

Any product has some inherent robustness or durability. Knowledge of that product robustness, and awareness of the various hazards present in the distribution environment helps determine not only if, but how much protective packaging is necessary to assure the safe delivery of products from their point of manufacture to their end-use destination.

What we’ll discuss:

  • Product, package, environment relationship
  • Product robustness characterization
  • Package material selection and design overview
  • Environmental hazards and their incorporation in industry test standards

Who should attend?

  • Product and packaging design engineers
  • Damage Prevention personnel
  • Supply Chain and Logistics personnel
